Espresso drinkers believe they’re good lovers while black coffee fans claim to be straight-talking, a survey has found.

When caffeine lovers were asked to describe what their go-to drink said about themselves, the results revealed distinct personality traits.

Those who chose a double espresso were most likely to describe themselves as well travelled (44 per cent), good in bed (24 per cent) and sophisticated (25 per cent).

People who enjoy flavoured coffee, such as a hazelnut or caramel latte, were most likely to describe themselves as funny (61 per cent) and people pleasers (34 per cent).

The survey of 2,000 Britons, commissioned by coffee firm De’Longhi, showed mocha drinkers believe they have the most sex appeal (16 per cent) and cappuccino fans say they’re well-read (55 per cent).

Those who opt for the traditional black filter coffee said they’re straight-talking.

Helen Cutmore from De’Longhi said: ‘It’s evident from this research that consumer tastes differ.’

The most health and environmentally conscious, perhaps unsurprisingly, drink a dairy-free choice such as an oat milk latte (27 per cent), while the ‘life and soul of the party’ types were the most inclined to favour a cold brew (55 per cent).
