His co-workers administered CPR before he was airlifted to hospital, where he underwent cardioversion 17 times because his heart wouldn’t beat “longer than 40 seconds”.

Snell was then induced into a coma but tragically his organs began to fail.

His family were forced to make the heartbreaking decision to turn his life support off.

Snell’s wife Jessica said he was “perfectly fit and healthy”.

“He wasn’t overweight, he didn’t drink. He’d go to the gym a couple of nights a week and he’d take his kids swimming,” she said.

“The Sunday morning he was in work, all the lads in the factory ordered sausage and bacon butties and he was eating a protein yoghurt. That’s how healthy he was.”

Snell’s best friend told The Liverpool Echo that he had “no words”.

“He went to work on Sunday and just didn’t come home. We can’t believe it,” he said.
