Smiling in “paradise” with their alleged killer, these are the two friends whose remains were found in suitcases at Clifton Suspension Bridge.

Yostin Andres Mosquera has been charged with the murders of Albert Alfonso, 62, and Paul Longworth, 71, after body parts were found in two bloody suitcases abandoned at the Bristol bridge last week.

On Monday the alleged double killer grinned in the dock as he appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.

It can be revealed that the 34-year-old Colombian holidayed with the two gay men just months before he is said to have killed them between July 8 and 10.

Photographs on Mr Alfonso’s social media accounts show the trio laughing on a speedboat at a luxury resort described as “paradise within your reach”.

Mr Longworth, who was celebrating his impending retirement, had travelled with Mr Alfonso to Hotel Isla Del Encanto resort near Cartagena, Colombia, in March.

The two men, who had previously been in a relationship, posed for a series of pictures with Mosquera in his homeland, which were captioned “holidays, happy people’.

The holiday snaps showed the trio enjoying day trips from their hotel, which had its own infinity pool.

Other photographs reveal that the suspect had previously visited the victims in October last year.

Mr Alfonso posted pictures online of Mosquera enjoying a trip on the London Eye and smiling as he ate fish and chips in a pub near Turnham Green, Chiswick.

The two men, who lived together in Shepherd’s Bush, west London, travelled extensively in Colombia in 2022-23, visiting areas including Medellin, Cali and Guatape to see the crumbling mansion which once belonged to notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar.

It is not known how they met the suspect.

Detectives said Mosquera had been staying with the two men for a short period of time.

Last Wednesday police launched a national manhunt after a man was seen dragging two suitcases on the Clifton Suspension Bridge just before midnight.

When a passerby and a cyclist intervened, the man sprinted off.

A suspect was apprehended at Bristol Temple Meads station on Saturday.

Police have discovered further human remains at the alleged victims’ flat in Shepherd’s Bush, where their bodies may have been dismembered.

On Monday devastated neighbours said Mr Longworth was just days away from retiring and planned to go travelling with Mr Alfonso.

One woman said: “Albert and Paul were lovely guys. It’s devastating. They were both really friendly and polite and smiled a lot.

“I last saw Paul a month or so ago in the pub and he told me that he was retiring. He told me, ‘I’ve only got two days left that I have to go to work’. He was really happy about it.”

Scotland Yard said the case had been classified as a hate crime under national guidelines, although there is no evidence to suggest the killings were motivated by homophobia.

Officers are working to establish whether there are any linked offences in the UK.

On Monday Mosquera appeared in court charged with the murder of the 71-year-old Briton and his French former partner, who had British citizenship.

Wearing a grey tracksuit, the defendant strolled smiling into the dock and stood with his arms folded during the brief hearing.

Mosquera, who was assisted by a Spanish interpreter, was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at the Old Bailey tomorrow.
