Hawaii: Leading doctor, Gerhardt Konig, allegedly attempted to murder his wife with rock at Pali Lookout

A potential murder plot by one of Hawaii’s most trusted doctors is being investigated, after he allegedly tried to smash his wife’s head with a rock after stabbing her with syringes.
Gerhardt Konig allegedly attacked his glamorous nuclear engineer wife after she refused to take a photo with him while on a walk at the Pali Lookout on the Hawaiian big island of Oahu.

Ms Konig told police her husband assaulted her with closed fists and a rock before he tried to throw her off the hiking trail.
Police are investigating the idea that Mr Konig had planned to harm his wife after Ms Konig told them he produced two syringes containing an unknown substance and poked her with them prior to allegedly hitting her with the rock.
The signal for Mr Konig to explode into violence was her refusal to take a picture with him, according to the Star Advertiser, which also reported she was taken to the hospital with serious head and facial injuries.
‘HPD officers located Gerhardt Konig near Pali Highway and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit. Charges are pending. Mahalo to the public for your assistance,’ Honolulu police said in a statement.
The couple lives in Maui in a $US1.5 million ($2.4 million) home, but were visiting the beautiful spot in Oahu at the time of the alleged incident.
They have been married since 2018 and Mr Konig was previously married and has at least one child.
Mr Koenig has been suspended from his job as an independent contractor who serves various facilities under Maui Health.
‘Maui Health is committed to patient safety and upholding the highest standards of care,’ the group told told local media in a statement.
“We have been made aware of the allegations against Gerhardt Konig, MD. Dr. Konig has been suspended from the Medical Staff pending investigation.”
Mr Konig previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Medicine and Engineering.
