A TikTok star was struck with severe diarrhoea while on a plane, and the aftermath was so bad that a full hazmat team was deployed and the next flight was cancelled.

Meghan Reinertsen knew something was off when she woke up on travel day and felt a “disturbance” deep within her bowel.

She had been in Portugal with her work as a live-in nanny for a family on holiday.

That day she was travelling to Indianapolis for a film premiere of her first SAG affiliated job as an actor.

Now, a year on from the incident, Reinertsen has taken to TikTok, revealing a detailed account of what might be the worst day of her life.

She made it through her first flight, but it was the next one to Indianapolis that was a living hell for both her and fellow passengers.

After taking her seat she “spent the next 30 minutes in agonising pain”.

“I’ve never felt anything like it in my life. I am just full body sweating, crying, I can only imagine that is what a contraction feels like,” she said.

Bound by the seat belt sign, Reinertsen did not feel like she could get out of her seat, until she decided her situation was an emergency.

She made for the plane bathroom - just.

“For the next 20 minutes I [did] more diarrhoea than any human should [do] in their entire life,” she said.

But the worst was yet to come.

Trapped in the tiny bathroom, she suddenly needed to throw up - but there was another obstacle in her way.

In order to be sick, Reinertsen decided she had to strip out of her clothes.

Disaster then struck when she had to diarrhoea and vomit at the same time, the facilities were not built for this.

In a panic she ripped open the folding bathroom door and yelled out for everyone to hear “I need help, I need help”.

A flight attendant appeared swiftly from behind a curtain and proceeded to push Reinertsen back in the bathroom with a plastic bag to get her through the next trial.

Staff continued to check on her throughout the flight as she remained inside with the door locked and unrelenting bowel trouble.

They even found out her name, and called out to her offering help and ginger ale.

Then it was time for the plane to land.

Reinertsen was in no state to return to her seat, but staff had tough job ahead.

The situation was so dire that the flight attendants got clearance from the pilot that she could stay in the bathroom while the plane landed.

She said the episode was caused by food poisoning, as she had eaten part of an under cooked burger in Portugal the night before she left.

As the plane landed, the attendant told her to brace for impact, so Reinertsen grabbed the bathroom sink for balance, but the diarrhoea would not stop.

It was so bad that a hazmat team had to be called in, and the next flight was cancelled.

Reinertsen apologised for this and said “if that flight cancellation changed the trajectory of your life in a really negative way, I am so sorry, it was not without pain and suffering”.

She then had to be put in a wheelchair to be taken to baggage claim, where other travellers from her flight realised it was “the woman” from the flight.

By some miracle, she made it to her hotel in Indianapolis and then began her recovery - or so she thought.

After a big sleep, she decided to still attend the premiere she had been through hell to get to and launched straight into prep mode.

“I looked snatched, never looked so good in my life, I am glowing, I am so skinny,” she said.

Reinertsen said she had a “great time” at the premiere, but her recovery was not as “full” as she had thought.

That night, her bowels betrayed her yet again and she destroyed the hotel bed sheets.

Fans were very concerned for Reinertsen, with many questioning just what made her so ill.

“My question is: what made you sick?” one TikTok user commented.

Others claimed they were on the same flight and experienced the horror alongside Reinertsen.

“I was on the flight. There was sound. And smell. But everyone seemed to feel bad for her and were glad she stayed in the bathroom the entire flight. Glad to see you’re doing well and this POV is great lol,” one user commented.

Others shared their top tips for avoiding a similar fate.

“I don’t leave my house without Imodium! The Lord’s medicine,” one user wrote.

Another user was shocked that Reinertsen put her story online for anyone to see.

“You couldn’t WATERBOARD this information out of me,” they wrote.

Reinertsen told fans not to feel bad for her.
