While attempting to land, the plane appears to have hit nearby trees.

Reports suggest Biffle, his wife, Christina, and the couple’s children, Emma, 14, and Ryder, 5, were on board when the horror crash occurred.

“I can confirm there were fatalities,” Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said after the crash, as a major emergency response was underway.

Video of the crash emerged online shortly after the plane went down, showing the fiery crash on the runway.

Biffle is understood to have been a very experienced pilot, having been involved in multiple recuse operations, most recently flying the jet to provide assistance during the response to Hurricane Helene.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.
