A couple from New York have been arrested after police say they were “hot-boxing” a vehicle with marijuana, all the while a two-year-old was reportedly trapped in the backseat.

Phillip Fraisar, 36, and Kasey Buckmann, 27, were allegedly smoking marijuana and drinking tequila inside a parked car outside the Clevelander Hotel in Miami Beach on Sunday night when a passerby spotted the smoke-filled car and alerted police.

By the time police arrived, Fraisar had exited the vehicle, but Buckmann and the toddler remained inside, according to arrest reports.

“The marijuana smoke filled the vehicle, as is commonly referred to as hot-boxing,” the Miami Police Department said in a statement to Local 10 News.

Court records obtained by People reveal Fraisar and Buckmann were charged with one count of child abuse (no harm). Fraisar also faces charges of marijuana possession and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say they found a pistol in the car’s glovebox and a “large clear bag of marijuana” tucked under the driver’s seat.

Following his arrest, Fraisar was booked and held on a $1,000 bond before being released. Buckmann was also reportedly released, according to the court documents.

Both are scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on September 30.

This is not the first time the 36-year-old has faced serious charges.

It is understood Fraisar was charged in 2015 for attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
