Moscow investigators have since opened a criminal case, looking into possible negligence linked to the procedure, which is believed to have been a buttock augmentation surgery.

Officials say multiple forensic tests have been ordered, including a medical examination, as they work to determine what went wrong.

“Investigators from the Moscow Investigative Committee are working at the scene. Necessary official and medical records will be seized shortly. A number of forensic examinations, including a medical one, are being ordered,” a translated statement from the Moscow Investigative Committee reads.
