Anzac Day dawn services: Where to go in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin

Australians and New Zealanders will gather before dawn on April 25 to mark 110 years since the Gallipoli landings, with services happening across Australia.
While those who can’t attend in-can commemorate from home with live coverage on Sunrise from a beautiful location on the Gold Coast.
Ceremonies will feature traditional dawn services, wreath-laying tributes, and remembrance marches.

Additionally, RSL clubs across the country will host their own commemorative activities, so be sure to contact your local club for specific information.

Sydney dawn services 2025
Veterans will assemble for the annual Anzac Day Dawn Service at 4.20am at the Cenotaph in Martin Place, located in Sydney’s CBD
Thousands will assemble at Martin Place’s Cenotaph for NSW’s official Dawn Service, featuring three public viewing areas accessible via George, Pitt, and Castlereagh Streets. Viewing areas will be open for the public until the area hits capacity.
Accessible seating can be requested.
A veterans’ march begins at 9am along Elizabeth Street.
At 12.30pm there is a commemorative service at Hyde Park’s Anzac Memorial.
Free public transport is available for service members and families. Bag checks and road closures will be enforced across the CBD from 2am.
A 5.30am a dawn service will also take place in the Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs at the beach in Coogee.
Melbourne dawn services 2025
The Shrine of Remembrance hosts a 5.30am Dawn Service, with live screens and a post-ceremony poppy-laying opportunity in the Sanctuary from 7am.
There will be multiple screens around the Shrine to enable participants to view the proceedings.
The Veterans’ March starts at 8.30am on Swanston Street down St Kilda Road, followed by free access to the Shrine’s museum and memorial gardens.
Free shuttle buses will operate from select RSLs to accommodate attendees, but you have to book in advance.
“This service is available to all members of the public. The shuttles run from 4am and arrive at the Shrine by 5.45am,” a RSL Victoria spokesperson said.

Canberra dawn services 2025
The Australian War Memorial’s Dawn Service at 5.30am includes diary readings from 4.30am from the Australian Defence Force who will read excerpts from Australians who have witnessed war firsthand.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans Ceremony will take place at 7.30am. A national commemorative march follows at 9.30am.
The Last Post ceremony is at 4.30pm, with projections of wartime photographs displayed overnight.

Brisbane and Gold Coast dawn services 2025
Anzac Square’s Dawn Service begins at 4.28am, at 285 Ann Street. This is followed by a 9.45am march through the CBD on Adelaide Street, with large crowds expected at key viewing points.
The Currumbin RSL Dawn Service, held at Elephant Rock on Currumbin Beach, is Australia’s largest regional dawn service. The event begins with a march at 4.35am leading to the solemn dawn service at 5am.
For those unable to attend in person, Channel 7’s Sunrise will broadcast the service live nationwide, allowing viewers to participate from home.

Perth and Albany dawn services 2025
Kings Park’s State War Memorial holds a 5.45am service, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at Government House Gardens.
A march along St Georges Terrace starts at 9am, while a new Cathedral Service and family-friendly events on Irwin Street debut in 2025.
Albany is the site of Australia’s first dawn service led by Padre White in 1923, it begins at 5.30am, commemorating the soldiers who departed from Albany’s King George Sound during World War I.
The service is followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at 6am and a troop march, with events open to the public and streamed live at the Albany Entertainment Centre.

Adelaide dawn services 2025
The National War Memorial’s 6am Dawn Service precedes an 8am Light Horse Memorial event and a 9.30am march from North Terrace.
Community-funded initiatives, including a $20 million sports precinct, underpin grassroots commemorations.

Bicentennial Park’s 6am service at the Cenotaph is followed by a 9am march from the Esplanade.
Road closures and early arrivals are advised due to limited parking and high attendance.
