Newcastle shooting: Teenager dies after shooting during car park brawl at Bar Beach

18-year-old killed after being shot during a fight at Newcastle.

A young man has died after being shot during a fight in Newcastle on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services were called to the Bar Beach car park on Memorial Drive around 11.40pm, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died at the scene.

Police have established a crime scene and launched an investigation, with detectives from Newcastle City Police District and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad involved.

According to police, a group was fighting in the car park when a white SUV arrived. A man armed with a firearm exited the vehicle, fired at the group, and then left in the SUV.

“The victim has yet to be formally identified but was believed to be aged 18,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area to contact Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers.
