Brisbane jogger Ajay Malik’s wife speaks out about dog attack as GoFundMe launched for real estate agent
She said she ‘couldn’t believe (her) eyes’ the first time she saw her husband after the violent animal attack in Brisbane.

The wife of a real estate agent mauled by two dogs last month has revealed her husband is haunted by memories of the animals.
Ajay Malik was attacked by two dogs while jogging in Brisbane on October 16.
He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition, where he remains.

“The first time I saw him (after the attack), I couldn’t believe my eyes, and that thing is not going away from my mind,” she said.
“The injuries will get better but he still feels that pain.
“He can’t sleep because whenever he closes his eyes, he’s just seeing the dogs, and they were attacking him like psychopaths.
“He’s yelling. He’s crying, and he’s repeating these things.”
Mr Malik, who jogged in the area most days, suffered injuries to both ears, his upper lip, and bicep.
While now stable, he faces a long road to recovery with more surgeries planned.
He has also battled pneumonia and blood clots since being hospitalised.
“He’s feeling that pain that they’re still attacking him,” Ms Sirohi told the outlet.
“That can’t go away from his mind, it’s because he was alive and they were eating him.
“It’s sad because he was a dog lover and he loved big dogs and he knew how to handle them.”
She said Mr Malik was the one to calm her down when large animals were around.
“I know it’s a temporary feeling, but I have no faith in humanity right now,” Ms Sirohi continued.
“I’m just feeling too many things.
“I know there are good people who are trying to help but because of this situation, it’s more negative things that are affecting us during this time.”
A GoFundMe has been launched for Mr Malik and has raised more than $21,000.
In its description, the organiser said the funds would help with supporting living expenses, medical bills, and help cover transportation.
“What should have been an ordinary evening became a frightening, life-changing experience,” it read.
“Ajay now faces a long recovery, both physically and emotionally.”
The family friend said Mr Malik would be unable to work “for a long time”.
One of the dogs involved in the attack died after it was shot by police and the other is involved in a destruction order served to its owner by the Brisbane City Council.
