Residents in Queensland and New South Wales have captured video of the destructive force of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, with wind, rain and flood waters hitting two states.

Part of a roof was seen being torn away from a structure as wild winds lashed Queensland before Alfred’s arrival.

One person on the 70th floor of a Gold Coast apartment building captured vision of the wild winds and rains as Alfred approached.

Sharing an update a few hours later, water was seen coming through the windows of the 70th-floor apartments as the resident attempted to soak up the liquid to prevent damage.

One resident in Surfers Paradise said winds were getting worse on Sunday morning.

One local was filming the moment a power station appeared to blow, with a blue glow filling the sky.

Palm trees were seen bending in Cyclone Alfred’s winds in Labrador near the Gold Coast.

Other videos showed rain flying sideways as extreme winds hit the area.
