The biggest night in television is almost here, with Hollywood’s biggest stars preparing to hit the carpet for the 2026 Emmy Awards.
The Pitt and Hacks lead this year’s nominations, while Australian star Sarah Snook is also in the running for another Emmy after her acclaimed performance in All Her Fault.
The 78th Emmy Awards will take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night local time, meaning an early Tuesday start for Australian viewers.

What are the Emmy Awards?
The Emmy Awards are essentially television’s answer to the Oscars, recognising the best shows, performances and creative work on the small screen.
Winners are chosen by members of the Television Academy, with this year’s ceremony celebrating television released during the 2025-26 eligibility period.
The Pitt leads the field with 25 nominations, while Hacks is close behind with 24, which is a new record for a comedy series in a single year.
Apple TV series Widow’s Bay has 19 nominations and Pluribus has 18.
A number of awards have already been handed out across the first two Emmy nights earlier this month, but many of the biggest categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Drama Series, will be revealed during Tuesday’s televised ceremony.
Which Australians are nominated for an Emmy?
Sarah Snook is leading the Australian charge at this year’s Emmys, picking up two nominations for her work on All Her Fault.
The Adelaide-born Succession star is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance as Marissa Irvine.
She’s up against Claire Danes for The Beast in Me, Sally Field for Remarkably Bright Creatures, Carey Mulligan for Beef and Sarah Pidgeon for Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
Snook could also take home another trophy as an executive producer of All Her Fault, which is nominated for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Australian animator and Smiling Friends co-creator Michael Cusack has also scored a nomination for the hit animated comedy.
And while Adelaide-born actress Shabana Azeez isn’t individually nominated, she’ll have plenty to celebrate if The Pitt has a big night.Azeez stars as Dr Victoria Javadi in the medical drama, which leads the entire field with 25 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
Snook already has an Emmy on her shelf after winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Shiv Roy in Succession in 2023.
When are the 2026 Emmys in Australia?
The 78th Emmy Awards will begin at 8pm on Monday, September 14 in Los Angeles.
For Australians on the east coast, that means the ceremony kicks off at 10am AEST on Tuesday, September 15.
The ceremony is expected to run for about three hours.
How can I watch the 2026 Emmys in Australia?
Australians can watch the Emmy Awards live on Showcase on Foxtel from 10am AEST on Tuesday.
The ceremony will also be available to stream on BINGE.
If 10am on a Tuesday is less than ideal, Foxtel will replay the ceremony on Showcase from 8.30pm AEST on Tuesday night.

Official red carpet coverage begins from 8am AEST on Tuesday, with E!’s Live From E!: 2026 Emmys covering the biggest arrivals, interviews and fashion moments.

Who is hosting the 2026 Emmys?
Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has been handed hosting duties for the first time.
The Emmy-winning actress will become the first woman to host the ceremony since Jane Lynch in 2011.
Hargitay is no stranger to the awards herself, having been nominated 10 times for her work on SVU and winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2006.
She is already a winner this year, picking up two Emmys for her documentary My Mom Jayne during the earlier awards.
Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Amy Poehler, Jon Hamm, Sally Field, Macaulay Culkin, Alan Cumming and Keke Palmer are among the stars set to present awards during the ceremony.
The night will also feature a 30th anniversary celebration of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz, as well as a Charlie’s Angels reunion with Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith.
