A facial cleanser sold in Australian pharmacies, discount stores, and on online at Amazon, has been recalled over excessive levels of bacteria in the affected products.

The amount of aerobic mesophilic bacteria found in the affected batches of Nuagé Ceramide Gentle Cleanser could cause skin and eye irritation, and infections, especially if consumers have any cuts or wounds where the lotion is applied.

“Incidents have occurred,” the Product Safety recall said.

The cleanser, available for purchase online, was sold in Australia at The Reject Shop, The People’s Pharmacy, Waynes World, Silly Solly’s Maroochydore, Silly Solly’s Kawana, and Star Pharmacy’s Bribie Community Pharmacy.

The Nuagé cleanser — made in Turkey and distributed by UK supplier 151 Products Ltd — was sold in a 250ml white plastic bottle with a white, green and blue label.

It can be identified by its barcode, 5053249265476, or item number, NUA1165.

The following batch numbers can also help consumers identify the affected products: 2307-165, 2308-165, and 2406-165.

Consumers can return the affected batches to the place of purchase for a full refund, the recall said.

For more information, consumers can contact the supplier via email at info@151.co.uk.
