It's been a difficult night for fire crews in South East Queensland overnight with two raging infernos breaking out.

Residents surrounding a major industrial fire in Logan have been evacuated, while others in the city are being warned of “large amounts” of smoke.

The fire broke out at a storage business on Kingston Rd in Kingston about 10pm on Thursday, sparking an emergency evacuation of people in the surrounding streets of Juers Rd, Skyline Dr, Jacaranda Ave and Hibiscus St.

It took 17 firefighting crews about seven hours to control the blaze, which destroyed an 1600 sq m building.

“The fire is now under control,” Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said.

“Large amounts of residual smoke may affect the surrounding area in the coming hours. Residents should close windows and doors and, if needed, keep their respiratory medications nearby.”

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s were taken to Logan Hospital, both in a stable condition, for unspecified medical concerns.
