A man has died following an alleged home invasion and assault in Sydney’s west.

Two men allegedly broke into the unit on Union Rd in Penrith about 1.30am on Saturday, assaulting a man inside.

Paramedics treated the man at the unit, but his condition deteriorated and he died.

“While the man is yet to be formally identified, he is believed to be aged in his 60s,” NSW Police said.

“Police established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, with the assistance of officers attached to the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.”
