A man has died in a shocking workplace accident involving a loader in Melbourne’s north.

The loader struck the man at an industrial site on Maygar Blvd in Broadmeadows at 9.45am on Friday.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and tried to save him, but he died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified and police will prepare a report for the coroner.

WorkSafe will investigate the incident and the death, which is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.

It is unclear what type of loader was involved, but the equipment is typically a type of tractor with a bucket mounted on the front.
