Man grabs elderly woman in chokehold as he runs from police on the Gold Coast
Queensland police have released video of the moment an elderly woman was used as a human shield by a stranger on the run from officers on the Gold Coast.
Police were responding to reports of a group fighting in a Southport unit block in October when they confronted the 23-year-old.
Tyrone Sampson placed the frightened woman in a rear chokehold and briefly held her in front of him.

“Let her go. Get on the ground,” an officer says.
Sampson had been granted parole 13 days before the attack.
He has been sentenced to 10 months prison but because of time already served he could walk free any day.
