A woman has died in a two-vehicle crash on a Northern Territory highway, with at least nine patients being assessed for injuries.

The two vehicles crashed along the Newhaven access road at Papunya, about 65km from the Tanami Hwy, about 1.15pm on Friday.

The woman died at the site of the crash.

“Initial reports indicated up to 10 people may have been involved,” NT Police said.

This includes five children aged between 5-years-old and 10-years-old.

Those involved “are receiving medical treatment for various injuries, none of which are believed to be life-threatening at this stage,” police said.

“A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.”
