A man has died when his ute crashed and rolled, coming to a stop on its roof in the Northern Territory.

The white Toyota HiLux utility was travelling southbound along Hopewell Rd, Berry Springs in Darwin’s rural area when it crashed about 2.13pm Tuesday, police said.

The 73-year-old driver and sole occupant of the car was trapped in the vehicle.

Emergency crews were called to the crash, but he was declared dead at the scene.

Traffic diversions were in place as police scoured the scene.

“The factors contributing to the cause of the crash are not yet known,” police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 131 444.
