Adrian Torrens, 53, charged with the alleged murder of much-loved 19-year-old ironwoman Audrey Griffin

A man will remain behind bars after being charged with the alleged murder of a much-loved teenage ironwoman who vanished after a night out with friends.
Adrian Noel Torrens, 53, was arrested on Monday over the alleged death of 19-year-old Audrey Griffin on the NSW Central Coast last month.
Torrens’ lawyer appeared on his behalf as his matter was heard at Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

Griffin’s body was found partially submerged in Erina Creek, near The Entrance Rd in Erina, about 3.45pm on March 23, the same day she was reported missing after a night out with friends.
While her death was not initially believed to be suspicious, further inquiries led police to arrest Torrens in Sydney on Monday.


Torrens was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with murder, along with 11 domestic violence matters unrelated to the murder charge.
It will be alleged he had a physical altercation with Griffin.
7NEWS.com.au can reveal that Torrens is a father who is originally from the Casino area, in northern NSW.
Court documents obtained by 7NEWS.com.au reveal police will allege Griffin was murdered between 3am and 3.15am on March 23.
Torrens is next due to face Gosford Local Court on May 6 for the alleged DV charges.
The alleged murder charge was adjourned to the same court on June 20.
