Of the 10 fatalities, nine were civilians, with the other being one of the two shooters.
The other gunman is in custody.
Police say 12 others are injured, including two police.
WATCH: Hero civilian appears to tackle gunman and grab weapon
Dramatic footage has emerged of a civilian tackling one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and removing a rifle from him in an act of heroism.
The bystander can be seen sneaking around a car and pouncing on the shooter, wrangling the gun from his hands.
The hero can then be seen pointing the rifle at the shooter as the gunman backs away.
Former Israeli PM claims Bondi Beach shooting anti-Semitic attack
Israel’s former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has claimed the mass shooting at Bondi Beach was an anti-Semitic attack.
A Jewish holiday celebration event was being held at the beach when the shooting broke out. Australian officials have not yet shared a statement on whether the shooting may have been religiously or racially motivated.
“Tonight Jews were attacked in Australia in the Bondi Beach Hanukkah massacre,” he wrote on X.
“A Jewish holiday gathering turned into a scene of terror. This is a moment of grief, and time for accountability.”
Mr Bennett accused the Australian Government of tolerating anti-Semitic hate, claiming that with that attitude, these attacks “become inevitable”.
He went on to urge the Government to do more to protect Jewish Australians.
Anthony Albanese issues statements
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says what happened at Bondi Beach on Sunday is “distressing”.
“The scenes in Bondi are shocking and distressing,” Mr Albanese wrote.
“Police and emergency responders are on the ground working to save lives. My thoughts are with every person affected.
“I have just spoken to the AFP Commissioner and with the NSW Premier. We are working with the NSW Police and will provide further updates as more information is confirmed.”
Shooters ‘neutralised’: Police say ‘active’ threat no longer remains
NSW Police have told reports at Bondi Beach that the active shooter threat has been downgraded, confirming that the threat has been “neutralised”.
It is not clear yet if that means a suspect has been killed by police or detained.
Bondi Beach mass shooting occurred on Jewish holiday
As NSW Police continue to gain control of the active situation at Bondi Beach, fears about a possible motivation have started to circulate online.
Bondi, like all of Sydney’s inner east, has a large Jewish community. At the beach on Sunday before the shooting, there was a large group of Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah (Chanukah).
Fears of mass fatalities: Initial reports claim 10 killed
The Bondi Beach mass shooting has reportedly left 10 people dead. NSW Police have not yet confirmed this number.
The major operation is still underway, with real fears that the number could rise.
The area has been flooded with ambulances, with paramedics seen desperately trying to assist people, racing some to hospitals.

Sydney suburbs fill with sounds of sirens
In Sydney’s eastern suburbs right now, sirens are blaring as emergency services continue to rush to the Bondi area.
Helicopters can be heard flying overhead.
Temperatures in Sydney were warm on Sunday. The beach was packed with revellers throughout the day, and at the time of the shooting.
Locals have reported hearing what sounded like fireworks this afternoon, however, tragically, that source has now been determined as gunfire.
Two in custody, operation still active
NSW Police have now published a statement confirming that two people are in custody, however, they are still dealing with an active situation.
“Two people are in police custody at Bondi Beach; however, the police operation is ongoing and we continue to urge people to avoid the area,” the statement said.
“Please obey ALL police directions. Do not cross police lines.”
It is understood the active operation in now focused on the northern end on Bondi Beach near a park.
