Four children have been rushed to the hospital after a backyard jumping castle was torn from the ground and blown over a fence in Sydney’s South-West.

Emergency crews were called to a property on Kelvin Park Drive in Bradfield about 9.35am on Saturday after the inflatable ride broke free in sudden wind, injuring several children.

Five boys — three aged nine, along with a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old — were assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

All were conscious and breathing, NSW Ambulance reported.

Four of the boys were taken to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead with non-life-threatening injuries and remain in a stable condition.

SafeWork NSW investigators are now on site to determine how the inflatable came loose.

The accident comes nearly three years after the devastating 2021 tragedy in Tasmania, when six children died after a jumping castle at Hillcrest Primary School was lifted into the air by a sudden gust.

Zane Mellor, Peter Dodt, Addison Stewart, Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones, Jye Sheehan and Chace Harrison were killed in that incident, which sent shockwaves across the country. In June, a court dismissed a workplace safety charge against the operator involved.
