Cambridge Gardens: Car splits in two after horror crash in Sydney’s North-West, driver rushed to hospital

A 39-year-old man has walked away from a crash that split his car in half.

Police are investigating a shocking single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s North-West that left a car torn in half after slamming into a tree.

About 1.25am on Wednesday, officers from Nepean Police Area Command were on routine patrol along Dunheved Road, Cambridge Gardens, when they came across the wreckage of a blue Ford Falcon XR6 that had split in two and damaged three parked cars.

The driver and sole occupant, a 39-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

He remains in a stable condition, and mandatory testing has been conducted.

Detectives have launched an investigation to determine whether speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area at the time, to contact Penrith Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
