A body has been discovered in NSW during the search for a Victorian man reported missing almost two months ago.

Officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District had been searching for the 27-year-old man after his damaged hire car was found on Murrumbidgee River Road in Carrathool, approximately 50km east of the Midwestern Highway intersection.

A dead kangaroo was found nearby, raising concerns about the man.

The man was reported missing to Victoria Police on June 1, prompting an investigation into his whereabouts.

The search was intensified on Tuesday with assistance from the NSW State Emergency Service.

Tragically, the man’s body was located in dense bushland near the Murrumbidgee River.

Initial inquiries suggest that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
