Circus performer airlifted to hospital after plunging seven metres from Wheel of Death during stunt in NSW

An experienced circus performer has been airlifted to hospital after a dramatic fall from the “Wheel of Death” during a show in NSW.
Jewin was performing at The Great Moscow Circus at the Swansea Equestrian Grounds, Caves Beach, when he plunged about seven metres to the ground on Sunday about 3.15pm.
Witnesses said he was at the top of a precarious structure when it gave way, throwing him headfirst to the floor.

A second person was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Despite the frightening fall, Jewin later appeared in a video from his hospital bed to reassure fans he was recovering well.
“Really, really sorry that you guys had to miss the show for the people who came today,” the injured performer said.
“I’m fine. I’m chilling now. I got looked after very well in this hospital.
“Don’t worry about it, everything is going fine and there will be no time back into the show.”
The circus said he is expected to return to the stage within days.
SafeWork NSW confirmed it is aware of the incident and has launched inquiries.
“SafeWork NSW was notified of a workplace incident at the Swansea Equestrian Grounds involving an injured worker on Sunday,” a spokesperson said.
“SafeWork NSW inspectors are currently making enquiries into the matter and no further comment is available at this time.”
