Just three days earlier, Sydney mother Thi Kim Tran was allegedly snatched from her Bankstown home, stripped naked, and forced into a car before she was allegedly killed.

Police believe the cash is proceeds from Ms Tran’s alleged murder, court documents state.

New details of Ms Tran’s alleged murder can now be revealed after court documents were released to NewsWire.

The mother was “violently rushed” by a group as she opened the front door of her home on the evening of April 17, 2025.

They tore off her clothes, stripped her naked and forced her into the car as she screamed, the documents allege.

Ms Tran died shortly afterwards, likely by a gunshot to the head, and the car was torched shortly after with her body inside, the documents state.

Her death was described as having unfolded in “circumstances that demonstrate a complete disregard for human life” in the documents.

A video was allegedly recorded the same week showing a man holding up bundles of cash believed to be proceeds from Ms Tran’s alleged murder with the caption “A day in the life”.

The man is one of nine people charged over Ms Tran’s alleged murder.

Police have previously said Ms Tran was innocent, claiming she was likely targeted due to her husband’s alleged involvement with an organised crime network based in Victoria.

Four people were allegedly sent to a Springdallah property in Victoria’s southwest on April 17 last year to look for Ms Tran’s husband and another man, who had fled when they got wind they were “in danger”, court documents state.

A Sydney “kill team” was allegedly mobilised when the group were unable to find the pair, the documents state.

21yo’s texts before alleged murder: court

Anthony Wong is among the nine people charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder.

Mr Wong, then just 21, is accused of driving his mother’s Mercedes to pick up and drop off a trio of men before and after the group – along with another man – allegedly kidnapped and murdered Ms Tran.

Ms Wong’s mother is not accused of any wrongdoing, and Mr Wong was allegedly in another suburb as the alleged kidnapping and murder unfolded.

The young man allegedly sent a message saying “Melbourne mates are fked” around the time the “Melbourne team” arrived in Springdallah, according to the court documents, and hours later allegedly sent another series of texts including: “Bro it’s the wife.”

Mr Wong’s lawyer Gabrielle Bashir SC last week described her client’s involvement as essentially a “drop off and pick up service” during his bail hearing in the NSW Supreme Court, and denied suggestions he had any “awareness” of his alleged co-offenders actions.

While it is not alleged Mr Wong discharged the gun that allegedly killed Ms Tran, prosecutors claim the young man’s “actions served to protect those responsible from identification and prosecution”, the documents state.

The prosecution allege in the documents that Mr Wong was a contracted associate of a Vietnamese organised crime syndicate and that he “played an essential role in the offending” by driving the co-offenders before and after the alleged murder.

“His conduct was deliberate and financially motivated, demonstrating a clear understanding of the serious criminal enterprise he was supporting,” the documents allege.

Mr Wong has not yet entered any pleas to one count of murder, two counts of conspire and agree to murder any person, one count of participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and two of failing to comply digital evidence access order direction.

He was recently hit with a second set of charges, which he has not yet entered any pleas to, including three counts of dealing in indictable crime proceeds money/property, and one count each of supplying an unregistered firearm, dealing with proceeds of indictable crime, and participating in a criminal group.

Nine people have been charged over the alleged kidnapping and murder and remain before the courts.
