Jessica Hull is looking to lead the charge as she starts favourite in the women’s 5000m event, while the likes of Peter Bol and Lachie Kennedy will also be on the track for Day 7 action.

Jenneke jumps to finals
Michelle Jenneke was her usual bubbly self pre-race and didn’t let the moment get to her, clearing the 100m hurdles in 12.72 seconds.
She will remain upbeat after qualifiying for the final with a clean finish.
“Those hurdles were coming up at me fast and that wind was pushing me up there,” she told Channel 7.
“I was really happy with (the start), I hope there is more in the tank for tonight.”
Barbados’ Adeyah Brewster tripped in the final stretch and hit the deck hard.
Ashes on wheels
The men’s 4000m pursuit gold medal race will be a fiery clash between Australia and England, after New Zealand failed to catch the Poms time.
It would have set up the ultimate grudge match between Australia and defactor Matt Richardson for the gold.
However, the Aussie traitor will have to watch from the sidelines while nursing an injury.
Barredo bows out
MAFs star turned weightlifter Ridge Barredo’s Commonwealth campaign has finished without a total weight.
The 110kg category lifter snatched a fine 150kg, but could not get up his 190kg in the clean and jerk on three attempts - leaving the stage empty handed.
Men’s storm into gold race
The men’s have followed up and beaten England’s top time to fly their way into the gold medal race.
Australia’s time was in the red throughout, trailing England until the crucial crunch time in the final laps of the 4000m.
England’s mid race collapse coupled with the Aussies gaining momentum helped boost the green and gold into the top race.
Back outside
Over at Scotstoun stadium, Cameron McEntyre has improved on his first javelin throw in the qualifiers.
Reaching 78.91m with his second attempt, slotting the NSW’s athlete nicely in sixth position.
Rivalry renewed
New Zealand will face Australia in the gold medal race for the women’s 4000m time trial.
The Kiwis were only just behind the Aussie’s qualification time and are the favourites for the top spot.
However, Australia are shooting for three-straight wins in the event.
The bronze medal will be contested between UK rivals Wales and England.
Flying!
The Aussies have smashed the fastest time in the women’s team pursuit qualifing by two seconds and were only one second off the Games record they set when they won the gold medal in Birmingham.
They look in great nick!
“C’mon”
Former MAFS star and three time Comm Games weightlifter Ridge Baredo has made a good start to the men’s 110kg final.
He missed his snatch at 155kg but shouted for joy as he nailed it the second time.
He wasn’t able to make it 162kg with his final lift but he remains a chance for a medal with the clean and jerk still to come.
Near miss!
The Kenyans have started off the women’s team pursuit and it was nearly a disaster.
They don’t have a Velodrome in Kenya so are still adjusting to the difference in the steep track compared to road racing.
And it came the hard way for the rider jettisoned off the back during the trial.
She was attempting to stay out of the way at the top of the track but fell and only just missed the back of the last valid rider.

There will be plenty of Aussies in action, including in the Para events before focus shifts into the athletics.
