Doonside: Police officer stabbed in the chest during arrest after wild brawl in western Sydney

The dramatic pursuit turned violent after three teens jumped into a Toyota hatchback in western Sydney.

A police officer has been stabbed in the chest while trying to apprehend a group of men involved in a wild brawl in Sydney’s western suburbs.

The officer is recovering in hospital after being allegedly stabbed during the arrest of a man at Doonside on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to Hill End Road, Doonside, about 12.30am, following reports of five men involved in a brawl.

On arrival, officers attached to Blacktown police area command saw a hatchback being driven away from the scene.

A pursuit was initiated by officers from north west metropolitan region operational support group (OSG), with assistance of officers from the Mt Druitt police area command, PolAir and north west metropolitan region enforcement squad (RES).

A short time later the pursuit was terminated on Power Street after the car hit a power pole and three men abandoned the car and ran away.

It was during the arrest of these men, that police will allege a male constable was stabbed in the chest by a 20-year-old man.

He was treated by NSW ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

The three men – aged 21, 20 and 18 – have been taken to Blacktown Police Station.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has commenced.
