Greenacre: Rescuers cutting car apart to free occupant who was ‘severely trapped’ in Sydney

Fire and Rescue services are dealing with a serious car crash event as they cut a car apart and try to free the driver who is “severely trapped” in Sydney.

The Sydney morning peak hour has been disrupted on Roberts Road at Greenacre after a car reportedly rolled several times before hitting a trees and trapping the occupant.

NSW Fire Rescue boss Adam Dewberry said the incident was very serious and his crews are working to cut the car apart.

“This is a very serious and complex operation to free the driver who is compressed in the car,” Superintendent Dewberry said.

The driver is severely trapped and the crews are cutting the doors and roof off the car to try and free the driver.”

Morning commuters are being warned to find alternative routes and diversions are in place southbound on the Hume Highway, Cosgrove Road and Punchbowl Road to King Georges Road.
