Guildford: Man found dead inside home after residents flee western Sydney inferno

A man has died after an inferno engulfed a western Sydney home, leaving a group of residents fleeing onto the street.

Just before 5am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a home on Rowley Road, Guildford, following reports of the fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the home.

Five occupants are reported to have escaped, however a man was later found inside. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command have established a crime scene, and an investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
