Hume Motorway crash: Man dead and another seriously injured in collision between truck and ute

A ute passenger has died in a horrific crash with a truck on a major NSW highway.

The ute and a truck collided on the Hume Motorway at Ingleburn, southwest of Sydney, about 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The ute’s passenger, 37, was treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he later died

The driver of the ute, a 47-year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle before being freed and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck, 36, was not injured.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash with the assistance of specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
