Jaison Gene Green: Drug 'influence' in truckie's fatal nine-vehicle crash in Sydney’s west

Drugs were detected in the system of a truck driver who caused a nine-vehicle prang in which one man died and another was seriously injured, police have claimed.

Jaison Gene Green, 47, was visited by officers at Long Bay prison on Monday and arrested over a deadly collision that occurred on a motorway in Prospect in Sydney’s west on December 2, 2022.

About 4.30pm, police attended the crash scene to find the truck and eight other vehicles had collided.

Paramedics assessed 21 people involved in the incident, taking three of those to hospital for treatment.

Green was taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police were told 10 days later that 64-year-old Keith McGaughran had died because of the impact.

The collision also caused serious injuries to Daniel Young, court documents seen by AAP reveal.

Those same documents allege that Green was driving under the influence of 0.06mg/L of amphetamine and 0.39mg/L of methylamphetamine at the time of the crash.

He has been hit with charges of dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

His licence has been suspended because of the incident.

The 47-year-old watched by video-link from Long Bay during a short hearing on Tuesday afternoon at Blacktown Local Court.

His lawyers from Krayem & Co asked Magistrate Debra Maher if the case could be adjourned so that police could serve their brief of evidence.

The matter will next come before Penrith Local Court on November 15.
