Her son, 25-year-old Blaise McIntyre, is now behind bars charged with murder (domestic violence).

He was marched from his family home with his hands and arms bagged for forensics.

Blaise allegedly called triple-0 himself after using what NSW Police Superintendent Tracy Chapman described as a household knife in the deadly alleged attack on his mother.

The knife allegedly used in the attack was seized for forensic testing.

Blaise was arrested outside the Windale property before police discovered Rebecca’s body during a search of her home.

Paramedics were unable to save her.

Neighbours were devastated by what they heard during the incident.

“It was, ‘please stop, get off me’,” one neighbour recalled. “Because she’s so quiet and you never hear anything, I honestly didn’t know whether it was Rebecca.”

Police have confirmed there was no known history of violence between the mother and son, and Blaise had no significant criminal record.

Only weeks ago, Blaise had shared a family photo of his first birthday on social media.

Relatives described Rebecca as warm and caring, saying she “was a loving mother and didn’t deserve for any of this to happen to her.”

“Didn’t harm anyone, didn’t talk mean to anyone. She was nice,” one neighbour said.

Detectives are now working to understand a motive as the homicide investigation continues.

McIntyre has not applied for bail and will return to court in June.

Chapman called domestic violence “a scourge on society.”
