Man accused of sexually assaulting child at knifepoint after accosting them at train station

A man has been accused of taking a child he accosted at a local train station to a park before sexually assaulting them at knifepoint.
The 33-year-old is due to face court on Wednesday after being arrested on a street in Mt Druitt, in Sydney’s west, the previous afternoon.
Police allege he approached a youth at the local train station early on Thursday morning and took them to a nearby park before threatening them with a knife.

He was subsequently charged with aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14 and intentionally sexually touching a child.
The man was refused bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court.
Sex Crimes Squad commander Jayne Doherty urged the public to look out for children in their communities and report anyone acting suspiciously.
“If you’re a victim of sexual violence please reach out to police or support services,” she said.
“You will be supported during this difficult time.”
