A man has died and two children have been injured in a crash on a highway in NSW’s Central West.

A utility vehicle towing a trailer and a Pantech truck towing a horse float crashed on the Mid-Western Hwy at Carcoar about 1.25pm on Monday.

The man behind the wheel of the ute, believed to be aged in his 60s, died at the scene.

He has not yet been formally identified.

The Pantech truck driver was uninjured, but a boy and girl travelling in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

NSW Police are investigating the crash and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Road closures and diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
