A missing boatie has been found safe and well after his vessel caught fire and sank in the Parramatta River.

The boat, attached to two dinghies, was moored at Rodd Island when the blaze began about 12.15pm Sunday.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the boat fire, but the vessel sank.

Its owner was last sighted on a dinghy on Christmas Day, and a witness reported seeing someone jump from the burning boat at the weekend.

“Police have spoken with a witness who reported seeing a man jump from the burning vessel; however, no one has been located, NSW Police said on Tuesday.

“Police hold concerns for the missing boat owner.”

Shortly after on Tuesday morning, police confirmed he was now accounted for.

“The missing boat owner has been located safe,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

“Police would like to thank the community and media for their assistance.”
