A New South Wales police officer has been charged with possessing child abuse material and prohibited weapons following a raid on his house.
A New South Wales police officer has been charged with possessing child abuse material and prohibited weapons following a raid on his house.
Investigators from the Professional Standards Command, assisted by the NSW Cyber Crime Squad, launched an investigation in April into the man following allegations he possessed child abuse material.
A police statement revealed the man is a serving officer in the North West Metropolitan Region of Sydney.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The man was arrested in Macquarie Park and taken to Ryde Police Station on Thursday following a raid on a Sydney address on September 10.
“Police executed a search warrant at an address in the Sydney metropolitan area, where they allegedly located and seized digital devices, a gel blaster, butterfly knives, and ammunition,” the police statement said.
“(The officer’s) employment status is currently under review.”
The man was charged with the usage of a carriage service to access child abuse material, possession of ammunition without holding a licence, possession of an unauthorised pistol, and possession or use of a prohibited weapon without a permit.
He was refused bail following his arrest, and is due to appear before Burwood Local Court on September 18.
