Man injured in alleged late-night stabbing at Mays Hill Cemetery in Sydney

The stabbing took place in a cemetery leaving one with several wounds.

A man was allegedly stabbed during a fight at a cemetery in Sydney‘s southwest late on Friday night.

Police were told the man and two friends were walking through Mays Hill Cemetery about 11.25pm when a fight broke out between the group and a man who was allegedly camping at the cemetery.

A 30-year-old man was stabbed several times and taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The man was seen covered in blood and walking with crutches as he transferred himself onto a stretcher.

He was conscious, talking and on his phone as he was wheeled into the back of an ambulance.

Splatters of blood were seen across a footpath as police scoured the scene and spoke to witnesses.

Not long after the stabbing a 29-year-old man was arrested by police outside the cemetery.

He was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Granville Police Station and charged with reckless wounding.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
