Man swept into water at Brooms Head, NSW unable to be revived

A man swept off rocks and into the water at a coastal area in northern NSW has died.

Emergency services raced to a lookout at Brooms Head, 140km south of Byron Bay, following frantic calls to triple-0 about 12.30pm on Monday.

“The man was found unresponsive in the water and despite the efforts of first responders and witnesses he could not be revived,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The man, believed to be aged in his mid-50s, is yet to be formally identified.

The circumstances around the incident are now the subject of a police investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
