Mudgee: Murder charges for alleged killer after man stabbed to death in NSW town

Police services in two states have combined to track down an alleged killer after a man was stabbed to death in the leafy mid-western town of Mudgee in NSW.
A man has been charged with murder after being extradited from Queensland over the alleged fatal stabbing.
Police were called to Mudgee Hospital at about 11pm on Saturday, following the death of a 22-year-old man presented suffering a stab wound to his abdomen.

Local detectives assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The alleged murderers movements were tracked across the border into Queensland and at about 3.20pm on Sunday, a 28-year-old man was arrested by Queensland Police at Toowoomba Police Station.
He appeared before Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday, where an application for extradition to NSW was granted.
The man was then taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he was charged with murder.
He faced Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday, where he was refused bail to appear before Mudgee Local Court on Wednesday July 16.
