The dog’s owner found it suffering from serious injuries just 15 minutes after he had tied the dog to a tree while he popped into a nearby shop in Newcastle.

A dog has been euthanized after it was allegedly assaulted by a group of people while it was tied to a tree in NSW.
The Rottweiler’s owner tied it to a tree on Steel St in Newcastle about 12pm on Friday while he went into a nearby shopping centre.
The man returned 15 minutes later to find the dog suffering from serious injuries.

He took the rottweiler to a vet, however the dog was euthanized due to the extent of his injuries.
Police believe a group of people assaulted the dog while it was tied to the tree.
An investigation into the incident was launched about 2pm on Sunday, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
