NSW police have had to arrest one of their own after a serving member was discovered to have been allegedly selling prohibited drugs.

Officers attached to the professional standards command commenced an investigation this month, into reports the officer was allegedly supplying the drugs.

Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home in Wagga Wagga on Wednesday, and a number of items were seized for forensic examination.

A 36-year-old male senior constable – attached to a command within the Southern Region – was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga police station on Thursday.

He was charged with three counts of supplying prohibited drugs and knowingly dealing in proceeds of crime.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 13 November 2024.

The officer has been suspended with pay and his employment status is under review.
