Ooma: Two killed after ute hits tree and catches fire in regional NSW

Emergency services have wrestled with a horrific scene after a ute hit a tree and caught fire, killing the two occupants.

Two have been confirmed dead after the ute crashed and caught fire in the NSW Central West on Sunday night.

Emergency services responded after calls to Henry Lawson Way, Ooma, about 25km north of Grenfell, shortly before 10.20pm, following reports of the crash.

Officers attached to Central West police district found a ute had caught fire after hitting a tree.

Ooma North rural fire service members extinguished the fire, however, two people inside the ute died at the scene and are yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
