Panania siege: Heavily armed police surround house in Sydney’s south west demanding occupants come out

Heavily armed police have surrounded a home in Sydney’s south west and are demanding the occupants come out after a man is reported to have been wandering local streets with a gun.
Polair is circling the residence in Panania, and police have taken up positions on nearby rooftops to survey the scene.
The operation at Wollongbar Avenue involves dozens of police cars and various armoured vehicles which have been strategically positioned the site to keep the public from harm.

“I saw a black undercover van fly past me on the way to the house and then a tank on wheels flew past, followed by a convoy of smaller armoured vehicles,” one caller to Sydney’s radio 2GB said.
Sky News are reporting that police negotiators are on the scene and police have advised the public to stay away from the area as negotiations continue with those inside the property.
“Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command, as well as specialist resources, are on scene,” a police statement said.
“The public is urged to avoid the area.”
The Daily Telegraph is reporting that a man was seen running in the vicinity of Wollongbar Ave with a gun.
