Police and paramedics attended and attempted to save the 58-year-old man. However, he died at the scene.

Shortly after, police tried to pull over a man driving a 4WD ute along the Pacific Hwy.

When he refused to stop, a police pursuit began from Iluka to Woodburn and road spikes were successfully deployed.
