NSW Police arrest man who allegedly fired water pistol near NSW Parliament House
A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting a water pistol behind New South Wales Parliament House, causing a gun panic on Thursday afternoon.
The man allegedly fired the realistic kid’s toy, which was first thought to be a Glock-looking gel blaster, about 1pm on Hospital Road in the Sydney CBD, sparking a police investigation and shocking city-goers nearby.
“Initial inquiries suggest the replica firearm may be a gel blaster, which was discharged several times into the ground,” NSW Police said earlier today.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The man fled the scene in a car before police arrived. A crime scene was established as detectives and officers from the public order and riot squad scoured Domain parklands for evidence of a shooting.
A male ride-share driver was later arrested in Mascot about 5.10pm.
“A water pistol was seized and will be subject to further examination,” NSW Police said.
No one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
