Police Strike Force Trawler charge Warilla man Reagan Pidding with child abuse and bestiality offences

A NSW man has been charged with possessing and sharing sickening images after detectives raided his south coast home.

Reagan David Pidding, 30, appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday after detectives allegedly found child abuse and bestiality material in his possession.

The raid was carried out by Strike Force Trawler, an ongoing investigation by the sex crimes squad’s child exploitation internet unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

In May 2024, detectives say they identified an online user allegedly sharing and distributing child abuse and bestiality material.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s Warilla home on Thursday.

During the search detectives seized electronic devices and arrested a 30-year-old man.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra police station where he was charged with using a carriage service to transmit/publish/promote child abuse material, using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, possessing/controlling child abuse material using a carriage service, disseminating bestiality material and possessing bestiality material.

Pidding was refused bail by the police before appearing in court, where Magistrate Paul Lyon remanded him in custody.

The matter will return to court in September.
