A man who allegedly crashed into the gates of the Russian consulate in Sydney will remain behind bars following a court decision.

Rimi Abraham is accused of driving an SUV through the front gates of the Consulate-General of the Russian Federation in the eastern-Sydney suburb of Woollahra on Monday morning.

Mr Abraham has been hit with a string of 10 charges including three counts of destroy or damage property and resisting police.

He did not make an application for bail on Tuesday morning, and was subsequently refused bail in the Bail Division Local Court.

Police allege the 39-year-old man allegedly parked in the driveway before jumping the fence and entering the grounds.

Mr Abraham allegedly returned to the SUV before accelerating and ramming through the front gate.

Two constables aged 22 and 25 were allegedly injured while responding to the incident.

He has been charged with three counts of destroy or damage property, two counts each of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty and one each of hinder/resist law enforcement in execution of duty, custody of knife in public place, possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance, use etc offensive weapon to prevent police investigation, and enter inclosed land premises without lawful excuse.

The matter is listed for mention at Waverley Local Court on September 17.
