Police evacuate four people after cars went up in flames in Smithfield.

Two vehicles have been destroyed and a Western Sydney home damaged after a suspicious fire overnight.

Emergency services were called to Smithfield in the early hours of Friday morning after a Toyota RAV4 was deliberately set alight in a driveway.

The flames quickly spread, engulfing a van and damaging the adjoining house.

Four residents inside the home were forced to evacuate but escaped without injury.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle pull up outside the property about 1.30am and remain parked for some time before the blaze broke out.

Residents have told police there was a car outside the home at the time of the fire. Two men were seen in the area, and this investigation is ongoing.

Police and fire investigators are probing the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
